what is the equivalent in the python API? And again does that explain why the pose in robodk is different from the pose on the actual robot? If so is that proper behavior for a simulator?

I solved this eventually. Robodk was pointed at the system python27 executable which i guess in not compatible. when i pointed it at my python 3 installation it started working.
