CNC : Why are Kuka KRC4 g-code movements translated into CONT movements?

#1
Hello,
Why are Kuka KRC4 g-code movements translated into CONT movements?  Does this not approximate the next position and lead to inaccuracies and rounded off corners?  How does this not affect the fit of CNC cut components?

Thank you,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Are you using the KUKA CNC post processor?
If you don't want to see rounded corners you should use a rounding instruction at the top of your porgram and set the rounding radius to 0 or -1. This will force accurate moves.

The robot may vibrate a lot if you don't add a rounding by default. Having rounded corners helps maintaining a constant speed.
