Controlling Robot Feed Rate via Analog Output Modules

#1
I am currently working with a FANUC robot, specifically the R-30iB Mate Plus series, which is being utilised for welding applications. I am exploring the possibility of externally controlling the robot's feed rate (speed) during the welding process using USB Analog Output Modules.

My objective is to control only the speed via analog voltage signals, while the remainder of the program operates as usual from the teach pendant. I am considering whether it is feasible to define a variable for the speed value within the teach pendant program, which could then be adjusted in real-time using these analog signals.

If this is possible, I would appreciate guidance on both aspects:

Teach Pendant Settings: Any configurations or settings that need to be adjusted within the teach pendant to enable this functionality.

Hardware Connections: Details on where and how to connect the analog output module to the robot for this purpose.

Your expertise on whether this approach is viable and any necessary steps would be greatly appreciated.

You can customize the Fanuc post processor to use a register parameter for the speed instead of the desired speed provided by RoboDK (set speed instruction). You can find an example to customize a post processor by forcing a speed limit for a robot controller here:

I recommend you to contact us by email mentioning your project and this thread:
