Opening the robot gripper from RoboDK

#1
Hello,

I am currently working with a Universal Robot and integrating programs using RoboDK. However, I am unable to open the robot gripper from within the RoboDK software.

Could you please advise me on the steps required to control and open the gripper successfully ?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Kind regards,

Check out these tips for managing grippers in RoboDK:
  • Static Tools: if you’re using a static gripper—like the Fully Closed one in the image—but need it open, just download an Open gripper model instead.
  • Mechanisms: if your gripper is a Mechanism, you can treat it like a robot. Just use the Joint Axis Jog to control the opening, adjusting it to whatever position you need.

Thank you for your response.

We are already using this type of gripper, but it is not configured as a tool.
In the attached arborescence, the gripper appears as a robot. Is there a way to convert it into a tool, or is there another solution?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You can cut/paste items within the tree. Some tools are considered mechanisms and you may need to cut/paste the item to properly attach it to the robot.

On the other hand, for robot programming you'll need a static TCP defined as a tool item.
