Program generation takes a long time

#1
Program generation (with either "Generate Robot Program" or "Generate Robot Program As...") takes about ten minutes to complete for a single program on my laptop for some reason. I have a coworker with a similar laptop, and his can generate the same program from the same station in ~ten seconds. I've tried messing with the settings without success, and it also doesn't seem to matter how long/short the program is- it still takes about ten minutes. Is there a reason why mine might be taking so long and is there a way to fix it?

FYI, I am using the Kuka KRC4 post processor.

Thanks!

Are you using the latest version of Windows? Can you send us the RDK file?

I am using Windows 10 Enterprise, but so is my coworker. Unfortunately, I don't think I can share the RDK file because of company policy, but it happens in every station that I've tried, so I don't think it is specific to an RDK file.

I know it's not a huge deal, but the minutes start to add up if I need to make small tweaks to a station, or generate multiple programs simultaneously, so it has become a bit of a bottleneck.

Going back to an old post, but I just got a new computer and ran into this issue again, and I think I figured out what was happening- I had the python interpreter set to the default python 3.7 version that comes with RoboDK, but I usually use a different version in a different location. The other location has additional packages. For whatever reason, when I tried to generate a program with python 3.7 selected, it was trying to install, look for, or update packages that weren't in the 3.7 location for a long time. I'm not sure exactly which package it was looking for, or what it was trying to do with the package, but I changed the python interpreter in RoboDK to the version I usually use with all of the additional packages, and it generated the program in seconds.

The latest version of RoboDK for Windows includes a Python embedded version that should not conflict with other Python installs.

Also, you can try to activate this setting which will execute Python scripts through the interpreter line by line:
  1. Select Tools-Options
  2. Select the Other tab
  3. Check the option: Prevent Memory Error generating programs
If you can share a sample project (even if it is by email) we can better take a look.
