Real time robot UR5 tracking in RoboDK

#1
I am working on a university project using a UR5 robot, and for our first test we need to program pick and place operation using RoboDK. The robot is connected to both its teach pendant and RoboDK.

When I move the robot using the teach pendant, I can see its movements on the tablet but the virtual robot in RoboDK does not update automatically. I know there is an option to retrieve the robot's current position but I have to click it manually and it doesn't keep updating as the robot moves.

Is it possible to configure RoboDK to continuously display the real robot's position and follow its movements? Also when I execute a pick and place program I would like to see the physical robot's movements reflected in RoboDK in real time rather than just seeing the simulation. How can I achieve this?

For a UR robot like the UR5, yes, this is possible by using a dedicated UR monitoring macro called UR_ActivateMonitoring.py which you can find in the Library/Macros folder (C:/RoboDK/Library/Macros/), after setting the robot IP correctly. This makes RoboDK continuously update the robot position as the real robot moves, and you can also create targets while the robot is moved manually.

For execution feedback, if you run the program on the real robot through the RoboDK driver connection, RoboDK will reflect the real robot motion during execution.

Thank you very much for your answer sir.
Just to be sure, running the program through robot driver, that means i connect my robot to robodk, then i tick "Run on robot" ? Does this will make me see the real movement of the robot and not of the simulated robot ?

If you simply want to monitor the status of your UR robot using the script UR_ActivateMonitoring you don't need to connect using the driver (so you don't need to Connect-Connect robot and use the Run on Robot option).
