Trouble connecting Annin Robotics AR4 Robot to RoboDK

#1
Hi everyone, I have just built up the AR4 Robot Arm, and would like to use RoboDK to control it but am facing some issues with establishing a connection between RoboDK and the AR4. I am unable to get the "Ready" status when I select the AR4 driver and try to connect. May I get some assistance on this matter?

Could you please try using Python-Embedded (Tools - Options - Python)?

Also, it looks like manually installing pyserial might help.
You can use Tools - Run Script - Install Python Package - pyserial:

Hi Sergei,

I'm not sure what python embedded is as I'm new to RoboDK and am not familiar with python, but it seems to be selected already?

But installing pyserial seemed to do the trick! I get a connection between RoboDK and the AR4 now.

However, I am not sure how to control the physical robot with RoboDK, such as calibration, joint and cartesian jogging and running a program of taught positions.

Great, thank you for letting us know that installing the Pyserial module fixed the connection issues.

Once you are connected, you should be able to use the Run on robot option when you create a program. This will execute the program on the robot controller directly from RoboDK when you double click on the program.
