machine vision API

Hi everyone,
I hope you are doing well.
I am working on a project which is to locate part with an industrial camera and send its coordinates to the KUKA robot to pick it up 
so I am thinking to develop a vision software under the windows of the KUKA controller and take use of KUKA API to exchange data between my software and KUKA SmartHMI is that possible with the RobotDK application?
You should be able to simulate cameras and take simulated camera snapshots. You can then implement your machine vision algorithms on these snapshots.
