How to get gripper to open and close

#1
Hello, I am learning RoboDK still but can't find too many resources on how to open and close a gripper. I am using RobotiQ 2F 85 grippers. I started by inserting the open and closed both on my robot. But I am not sure how to get the "Simulate Gripper" program? Is this something I download?

Here is what I get when I upload the open and closed gripper. Doesn't seem to come with a program. I inserted a photo link because for some reason attaching the image wasn't working

Hi Lisotez,

If you use the static 3D model of the RobotiQ gripper, you need to "Hide/Show" the gripper to simulate the motion.

If you want to use the "RobotiQ mechanism" found in our library, I would recommend you to look at this webinar:

Hi Jeremy,

So I can hide/show in the middle of my program? I am trying to make a full working animation of 2 robots picking up objects, so if I use the hide/show feature then will it actually pick up the object like in the video? In general when picking up an object with a gripper, do I have to be exact with the pinching points?

In the video, the Schunk gripper is used. I also tried doing my project with this gripper but when I insert it in my project, parts of it look like an error on the physical gripper. I attached a photo of how it looks on my end. I'm not sure why only parts of the gripper are red.

Hi Lauren,

Parts of the gripper are red because of the collision checking.
You can either deactivate the collision checking or adjust the collision map according to the gripper.

For more info, follow this link: https://robodk.com/doc/en/Collision-Avoi...Collisions

I added a small .rdk station with the "hide/show" process.
