Use RoboDK to control Kuka IISY running on KRC5 with IIQKA 1.2

#1
Hi All,

When browsing through the robot library I saw that there is support for the new Kuka iisy robots: https://robodk.com/robot/KUKA/iisy-11-R1300
However, by default Kuka offers these robots (including the iisy-11-r1300) with the software IIQKA (either 1.2 or 2.0), instead of the old KSS. Now in the past I have used RoboDK on multiple Kuka robots running KSS, with either kukavarproxy and c3bridge.
I was wondering if there is a similar method to use RoboDK on the new Kuka software, say the IIQKA 1.2 or IIQKA.OS2? And if so how where can I find those installation instructions?

Many thanks,
Ewout

Can you provide us with more information about how this robot should be programmed? If would help if you can provide us with updated program manual and program examples. If there is an official KUKA simulation sofware for testing it would also help.

We could start by adding a post processor and then work on a driver.

Hi Albert,

Thanks for the response, from what I understand the driver does not exist yet?
I am looking into some communication options with Kuka too to see if any Kuka running IIQKA is even worth it for our use-case.
For the programming manual from Kuka, see the .zip file here I have their complete manual and just their webpage on just the programming. Though it seems not anywhere near the same as KRL on a KSS system, just to give some information. At first glance it even looks like its only a node based drag and drop solution for easy programming options on the smartpad itself.
As for the simulation software from Kuka, I am currently in touch with them too to see if there even is a possibility to connect to a 2nd computer on their IIQKA 1.2 software. Will post updates on that later in this thread when I have an answer.

Thanks,
Ewout

We are looking into adding support for this robot controller. Do you also have program examples you can share?

Hi Albert,

Thanks for the quick responses! Sorry should have made this more clear, but at this moment I do not have example programs.
