Laser Cladding KUKA KR 30 HA

#1
Hi RoboDK forum,

I have a KUKA KR 30 HA Robot and KUKA KRC2 Robot Controller. I am looking at conducting powder fed laser cladding. I was wondering what functionality RoboDK has in this area? The only examples I have seen on your documentation are for Robot Welding MIG/TIG using a Solidworks plugin, and Laser Cutting using Fusion 360 plug in.

My overall goal is to be able to program in RoboDK (preferably in python not KRL) remotely and then connect to the KRC2 controller via ethernet and control via Robot DK, to get basic Robot control, before adding Laser functionality as well. How would you recommend doing this? Can I use the Solidworks plug in? or upload G-code manually into RoboDK and great a path? Can you please advise to a complete beginner.

I would recommend importing the G-code and using the Machining Project utility:

If you are controlling the laser source on the controller side with welding instructions, the Welding Add-ing will help you to work with different cladding modes:
