Spotlight on… Inovance: From Shenzhen Startup to Global Automation Leader

Inovance is an international leader in industrial automation, sustainability, and robotics. From its modest beginnings as a Shenzan startup, it has grown to become a key player in worldwide robotics.

The company’s range of industrial robots is still a fairly recent addition to its product catalog, having launched at SPS in December 2024. But Inovance robots have already made their way into various industries, including photovoltaics, battery, and display manufacturing.

In this Spotlight, we shine a light on what makes Inovance robots stand out, highlight some key applications, and show how you can program the company’s robots more efficiently.

The Inovance Story: From Shenzan Startup

Founded in 2003, Inovance began its journey in the city of Shenzan, China with a bold mission: to advance industrial technology for a better world.

From its beginnings as a startup, the company quickly built a reputation for precision machinery, automation, and industrial control systems. Through industry-specific business units, Inovance has gained a foothold in a diverse range of industries including plastics, printing, packaging, and steel production.

Inovance is devoted to pushing sustainability as an objective using what they call the “Double King” strategy, incorporating intelligent manufacturing with new energy vehicles and digital energy management.

Example Industrial Application: Smart Textile Manufacturing

Alongside traditional industries like automotive and electronics, Inovance targets its robotic solutions at the needs of emerging industrial sectors and applications.

From lithium battery to display manufacturing, Inovance combines robotic technology with the company’s other automation products, like PLCs, advanced drive technology, and human-machine interfaces.

One such application area is the burgeoning global textile industry. For example, Inovance has situated itself as a pioneer in the textile industry in India. With applications like material handling of fabrics, inspection, and packaging, the company offers combined automation solutions for the textile industry.

At the Smart Production Solutions (SPS) 2024 trade fair in 2024, Inovance launched a range of products as part of its catalog. This included robotic solutions for a range of applications including welding, injection molding, die casting, and lithium battery manufacturing.

Ways to Program Inovance Robots

Programming is a vital aspect of the robot deployment process and you have several options with Inovance robots.

Compared to some other brands, the programming options provided by Inovance are still quite limited. Most users will opt for the teach pendant for online robot programming.

Here are 3 options for programming Inovance robots:

  1. Brand Teach Pendant Programming: IR-TP200 Inovance’s teach pendant offers a plug-and-play interface for programming their robots online. It offers a graphical touch-screen interface comparable to other teach pendants, with movements controlled by jogging.
  2. Brand Programming: PRO Files — Inovance robot programs are stored in PRO files using instructions defined in the quick start guide. This allows you to program in text using low-level instructions like joint moves and offsets.
  3. RoboDK Offline Programming — With RoboDK, you have access to a full set of powerful robot programming features for a vast range of industrial applications. With offline programming, you can easily simulate your robot without reducing productivity and then send the program to your Inovance robot at the touch of a button.

Spotlight on 3 Models in the RoboDK Library

The RoboDK Robot Library contains thousands of ready-to-use models for industrial robots from many brands. We already have support for several Inovance robots, including SCARA and 6-axis manipulators.

To use these models, simply download the model for your Inovance robot, load it into RoboDK, and begin programming.

Here are 3 Inovance models from the library:

Robot 1: Inovance IR-S20 (SCARA Series)

The IR-S20 SCARA is built for speed and precision. With its harmonic drive technology on the robot’s fourth axis, it achieves high rigidity and smooth movements even with fast cycle times.

The robot has a payload of 10-20 kg, a reach of 1 m, and a repeatability of 0.04 mm.
